STEEL BRIDGE SPRING
This image was captured during Spring, 2013 and is available as a limited edition in aspect ratio "C".
The Steel Bridge is another example of Portland's unique collection of historical draw bridges across the Willamette River. It is old enough that the new steel structure was revolutionary enough to provide the bridge with its name. The lower level of the bridge which carries the transcontinental train tracks rises up straight to surround the upper level with the road and streetcar tracks like a giant jig saw puzzle to allow ships to pass below on the river. The nation's second largest collection of Japanese Cherry Trees blossom every Spring on the Waterfront adjacent to the bridge.
