STUMPTOWN ALPENGLOW
Sunset on the bluff at Pittock mansion in February 2016. Available as a limited edition print in aspect ratio "C".
This image illustrates the phenomenon of "alpenglow", when the eastern sky opposite the setting sun,, especially at higher elevations, turns pink. My telephoto lens compresses distances so that Mt. Hood, sixty miles away, looks as if it is across the street from Downtown Portland. The mountain itself glows because it's the only object tall enough to still catch the direct rays of the sun.
